What type of battery chemistry does the cloud UPS use? 

The cloud-connected UPS models are available with VRLA or LiFePo batteries, depending on the specific model. Learn more about Lithium battery technology .

Is it possible to communicate with the Cloud UPS locally via REST API so we can collect data locally?

While Eaton Cloud UPS’ offer real, live communication from anywhere, local management via API protocol is not available.

For the UPS units to communicate with the Cloud, what IP ports are required to be open for communication?

The Cloud UPS’ do not require a specific port access; however, the local firewall needs to allow the URL access. 

What are the ideal applications or environments for the Tripp Lite series cloud-connected UPS?

Tripp Lite series cloud-connected UPS systems provide power protection and battery backup for a wide range of devices in diverse environments, including distributed locations and remote sites. There are models suitable for protecting retail and digital point-of-sale (POS) systems, casino gaming machines, ATMs and network switches and servers.

What happens when you scan the QR code on a Tripp Lite series cloud-connected UPS?

When you scan the QR code with a mobile device, you are prompted to download the Brightlayer Remote Monitoring App (Android or iOS). Create an account, add your UPS and get started with remote monitoring.

Do the cloud-connected UPS systems support NFC?

The cloud-connected UPS systems have a near-field communication (NFC) area that lets you instantly transfer network settings to the UPS from your mobile device.

Do the cloud-connected UPS systems support zero-touch provisioning (ZTP)?

How does communication to the UPS work?

Similar to accessing an email account from any device, a login is used to access our cloud space.

How secure is Eaton’s Remote Management solution?

Eaton’s solution is built with defense-in-depth security to ensure only authorized users can control your UPS

  • Encrypted Communication: All data is transmitted using TLS 1.2+ over secure protocols.
  • Role-Based Access Control (RBAC): Administrators define who can view, manage, or control outputs, ensuring permissions align with your policies.
  • Strong Authentication: Access requires verified credentials, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) can be enabled for added security.

What are the monitoring and notification capabilities of the remote monitoring software?

With the remote monitoring software, users can receive alerts, control outlets or shut down devices using a mobile device or desktop computer. Does the remote monitoring software have user-management settings?

Yes. Administrators can invite other users to enroll in the app as users or administrators. User accounts can be deleted, disabled or enabled. For more information, see the Remote Monitoring application note.

Can managed service providers (MSPs) leverage a tenanting feature to monitor and manage UPS systems for multiple customers?

Yes, MSPs have the flexibility to create and manage multiple organizations and subgroups using the cloud-based remote monitoring software environment.

What is the purpose of the USB-C port?

The USB-C port enables users to connect to a computer or host device running an SSH server in order to execute a command line interface to the UPS for configuration. The USB-C port cannot be used for monitoring.

Is the remote monitoring software on a desktop computer different than the mobile app?

No, the user has the same level of control and user experience over the UPS from both the desktop web interface and the mobile app.

How is the remote monitoring software different from the Brightlayer Data Centers suite?

The cloud-based monitoring software is included with every cloud-connected UPS at no additional charge and gives you basic remote monitoring and management capabilities. The Brightlayer Data Centers suite is our on-premise software platform that requires a subscription and is only available for our UPS systems that have a communications expansion slot and can be paired with one of our network interface cards.

Do cloud-connected UPS systems have replaceable internal batteries?

Yes, the internal batteries are user-replaceable (VRLA models).

How long does the UPS battery last during a power outage?

Battery runtime varies with load, battery age and other factors. See individual models for runtime information. For more details on runtime graphs, visit our runtime graph library.

What type of UPS are the Tripp Lite series cloud-connected UPS models?

What form factors are available for the Tripp Lite series cloud-connected UPS?

The cloud-connected UPS models are available in a variety of form factors.

What are the mounting options for models BC350RNC, BC600RNC and BC850RNC?

There are several mounting options in addition to desktop placement. Keyhole slots on the bottom of the UPS enable wall mounting and are spaced in a 100 x 100 mm VESA pattern for mounting to the back of a monitor with the included hardware. Attachment points allow installation on a shelf or beam with user-supplied cable ties.

Do cloud-connected UPS systems have an LCD interface?

Some models have an LCD for local monitoring.

Do the cloud-connected UPS systems have load bank switching?

All outlets on the cloud-connected UPS systems can be remotely turned on and off. Select models have outlets grouped into individually controllable load banks. Models with load banks allow users to remotely control just a load bank or all the outlets.

If the UPS battery completely drains during a power outage, does the UPS turn back on once power is restored?

Yes, the cloud-connected UPS systems automatically restart when utility power is restored, regardless of battery charge level.

If you turn off the UPS via a web browser or app, can you turn the UPS back on the same way?

Yes, you can turn the UPS on or off via a web browser or mobile app.
